Dr Stephen Knipe
BSc (Hons), MBChB, FRACP
Dr Stephen Knipe is a General Paediatrician. He was born in Scotland but grew up in rural Ireland.
He graduated from Glasgow University with a Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery and Bachelor of Science with Honours. Stephen completed his internship in Scotland before moving to Newcastle, NSW with his Australian wife to commence paediatric training.
He has worked in Paediatrics in Maitland and Lismore Hospitals. On completion of his Fellowship training in January 2010, Stephen settled in Newcastle to work at The Newcastle Paediatric Clinic and at John Hunter Children’s Hospital. He has particular interests in Neonatal and Early Childhood Paediatrics, having been appointed as a Paediatrician in neonatology to the Newcastle Private Hospital’s Maternity unit. Stephen also runs a local Indigenous Clinic.
Stephen contributes to the University of Newcastle Graduate Medical Program through lectures, supervision, teaching and examining.
He is married to a local GP and is the proud father to a son, and two daughters who barrack for all things Australian.
